Busy, busy Elders.

Sorry it has been a few days for an update with new news; but Justin's last letter didn't have a whole lot of news to share other then things are crazy busy; that they are having to even schedule time on p-day to write there letters.

Email today stated" it was a CRAZY week."  and that they have had a few more "off-road" adventures; also something about an epic dishwasher fail; I am guessing in the apartment; can't wait to hear what they did with that one.  Found a cockroach, the size of a mini van ?

The ward members are feeding the Elders well.  Justin said  i have not eaten any crazy southern food yet lots of what the members are feeding us is way good."  & "im exited for my next dinner appointment we are going to have tallapia (or however you spell that :S)  "

"no baptisms yet but i got to be a witness to a re-baptism of a member that was nice. "

Love your Elder of Albany.

Tornado Season Starting Early ??

Well, who could disagree with all this wacky weather we have been having.  Justin's email told us that:
"we did get a pretty outrageous storm over here on Friday  the tornado sirens went off and we got a "severe thunderstorm warning and ordered to stay indoors" we are right next to a siren tower.  caught some sweet vid of the lightning and thunder CRAZY STUFF!  and aparantly spring and summer are crazy like that alot :D

He will have a good understanding of tornados for us I'm sure.  No doubt there will be more storms as this is a early start to this years season.
Justin stated:
"highlight of this week,  learned alot of the gifts of the spirit, read alot about it in D&C and then read my patriarchal blessing,  just made me realize a few things about how blessed i am and how obligated i am to share these blessings with others"

Looks like he knows what he is to be doing ;-)

The Trainer & The Trainee.

Elder Hansen on the left; Elder Brimhall on the right.  Couple of Good Looking Elders,

This was the extent of the mail for the week.  We figured that Martin Luther King Day would have delayed everything a day or two.  However it seems that it must have messed up things a bit more then we expected. No letter from Justin this week. :(

This picture is compliments of Justin's mission pres.& his wife.  It came with a short note from them expressing there excitement to work with the new missionaries and there readiness to preach the gospel;  followed up with love and appreciation for the opportunity to "share" such a wonderful missionary with them.

Isn't Justin looking good !! or is he  "Good Looking?"  Write him and let him know :-)

Albany is Huge !!

Updates from the field...  According to Elder Brimhall, "Albany, GA. is the largest area in there mission. " Justin told us Elder Bells companion has arrived and now there are 4 elders in the apartment & everyone is getting along well.  Being in the south; todays "Martin Luther King Jr. Day" is much bigger then at home he said.  Everything is basically shut down for the holiday.

However, the elders; have there resources, with library closed for the day; they sought out there p-day mission for computer time  & ended up on the old computer in the family history room @ the church to do there emails.  Sounds like they have been being thrifty Elders; checking out the deals at there local Goodwill.  Justin said he found some decor for his boring desk.  He also stated he got into a fight with a garbage can while biking earlier in this week; wonder if and when we will hear the whole story ?  It must have been good; because he said they were all laughing about it.

"Albany is Huge !!!!"   Elder Brimhall claims;  but the people are very nice & polite & believe in Christ .  They have divided there area up between the companionship's; having a  East side &  a West side;  not sure if that was there doing or mission pres.  Whatever works.

"Lots & lots of trees and squirrels everywhere. "

That is whats happening for now.

"The Mud Puddle of Darkness"

"It was a dark, cool afternoon.  Elder Bell and Elder Hansen and I set out for opening night of Albany's institute class.  Headgear fastened on and we set out into the darkness on out bikes.  Not far into the trip, Elder Bell states " I think I know a shortcut !"  Elder Hansen &  I being only 2 days fresh in the area; trusted his judgement.    As we turned down the street; the street lighting abruptly stops; we have our bike headlights to rely on.  I squint trying to adjust to the darkness; trying to make out the distortions in the road.  The asphalt had know turned into dirt.  Tires slipping as the road gets wetter; potholes are  deep ruts in the road created by a truck.  Elder Bell, only a few feet in front of me suddenly disappears into a rut with a large splash and exclamation of surprise I only had seconds to realize I was joining him in an adjacent puddle."  Morale of the story,  do not follow Elder Bells shortcuts; especially in the dark.

Justin is enjoying Albany.  He has sent requests to his siblings for this & that, etc.  He has promised to send more pictures.  We will be awaiting them.

Albany is Great !!!

Justin's prep day is Mondays. So, we received email from the Elder today. As the title states "Albany is Great !!" quoted off the first line of his letter. He was braggin' up the weather a little bit stating it got into the 40's for the low.

New companion is Elder Hansen; my trainer. Currently they are in a trio; one Elder is awaiting his companion to arrive; apparently he got sick in the MTC & has yet to travel to the mission field. The first apartment seems to be quite nice, he says even quite nice for a missionary apt. The ward members "LOVE to feed us missionaries :)" & our fridge is full of food :)

The mission president told us Elders that we could gain anywhere from 25 to 35 lbs average. Justin said "I'll have to keep an eye on that." More pictures to share & adventures of the "greenie" forth coming in the mail. "Know I'm happy where I'm serving :D"
