Hot Weather & Hard Work

Quick Update from Elder Brimhall in the fields of Albany, GA. ---

"Weather here has been hot 80s and 90s, you even sweat in the dark !"During district training; president came down.  I was an awesome message about being a "Celestial Missionary" and living the higher law."

"President is just awesome !"

"We had interviews; he said some really cool things to me; and he complemented me on  my obedience."

"Last Saturday, me and Elder Hanson rode our bikes 42 miles;  sustained by nothing but the power of prayer.  That day was intense; we have done lots of biking, tracting, and finding these past few weeks."

"I finally got to taste some fried okra <much better then boiled> ; had some collard greens, not to bad.  Taste like boiled cabbage.  No grits or gator as of yet.  Boiled peanuts are still my favorite <3"

"We got the transfer schedule for this transfer;  sounds like me and Edlder Hanson are staying in Albany.  Along with Elder Helgeson; he will be getting another Elder on Wednesday when transfers happen."

There it is; update in his own words.  Until weekly letter arrives this weekend.  Thanks for all the prayers, love & support

Busy Bicycle Week.......

Excerpts from Justin's weekly email.
"The weeks are getting crazier.  The weather is getting HOTTER."
-Hoping our hard efforts will bring some fresh investigators, we have a few that seem to be stuck in the mud.
-Last Tuesday, Justins companion Elder Hanson, was the fine recipient of an "Epic" flat tire.  Elder Hanson found a 3 1/2 screw that ruined his tire & had to replaced;  So off they went to get new tread.
-Thursday, after a handful of fallen through appointments;  Elder Brimhall was nominated to receive the flat tire.  He said upon further in depth investigation resulted with  a beer bottle glass gem throughout the tread; he condemned it & also purchased some new tread and a new saddle.  After our fun filled week thus far;  they were treated to dinner by a member of the high council.  He took them to the local Steak'n Shake.
-Saturday.  The Elders got crazy energy or something.  They logged nearly 30 miles of pedaling to appointments finally ending the evening at the ward bbq to work on member relations.
-Monday,  prep. day; we also found out that pres. (mission president) was coming to this weeks district meeting.  We are actually excited.

A few more photos from Elder Brimhall....

Thanks for all your love and support.

Its was a rough week..

As the title states; Its been a rough week.  That is what Justin actually told us in his email.
However he said  " this week was extremely rough @_@ super crazy."    Monday,  Justin's started his prep. day as usual.  Upon entering the front room of the apartment; Justin found his tire on his bicycle to be a bit on the flat side, thus requiring a tube repair & he picked up a spare inner tube in the process.

With the crazy weather & storms down in the south last weekend; Justin relays that they are are safe and taken care of.  Justin mentioned how last friday evening the sirens went off & they checked in with mission president & they followed protocol for severe weather & they ended up spending the night at the church building bunkered down in the relief society room.  They tried to sleep on the padded chairs.  I do not think any of them got any real sleep that night.  Justin told us that it was a little cold & uncomfortable.  Saturday we were able to return to the apartment; but to watch the weather closely as due to the wind; They ended up staying put in the apartment for the day.  Sunday fared a little better; able to get out & do a little work.  Then the flat tire curse came to visit again.  Not me, but Elder Hanson this time around.  We were about five miles out from the apartment & got a hold of the other Elders to come to the rescue with the car.  Later discovery also reveals that Elder Hanson's rear axle had snapped inside the hub; thus to the repair shop we went.

We are hoping this next week treats us well.

Slow Postman.....

This weeks letter arrived Saturday afternoon.  We are not to sure if Justin is mailing his letters later then usual or if the postal service is just plain slow.  We used to get his written letters on Thursdays; now they come Saturday.

Justin & his companion Elder Hanson are plugging along with there efforts in Albany.  He claims they had a pretty decent week of missionary work.  "Lots of work; But it is all fun when you feel good when you talk about the Gospel to people."    <----  What can be said about that attitude ?     I think its awesome !!

A while back we inquired as to the southern food & if he had tried anything "CRAZY" yet.  Justin has only answered that he has had "boiled okra," and something to do with "boiled peanuts ??"       He says they are really a big thing out here in the south.

Justin seems to also be enjoying the entertainment down in the south.  He & Elder Hanson have found a street where the train tracks evidently go right down the middle of the street.  They also have noticed a guy who seems to always be standing at the street corner of an intersection who is always dancing; which seems to be there almost everyday.  Justin said that guy is fun to watch & is actually pretty good.

Justin sends his "Thanks for the love & support !!! "  --- Your Elder in Albany
